To commemorate the St. Louis Archdiocese Bicentennial Jubilee, Assumption is starting to fulfill Archbishop Rozanski's request to consider how we can make more evident Christ’s presence to the poor in our communities by serving them. In coordination with our St. Vincent de Paul team, Assumption Parish ministries are signing up to provide a hot dinner on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Salvation Army on Fourth Street in St. Charles. A heartfelt thank you to the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary #2269 for kicking things off for our Parish. We are so grateful for your support.
But, we can't continue this without the assistance of all our ministries and organizations! We need the entire parish community to join together in this mission by assisting in the rotation of cooking and serving a simple meal to those in need with the thought of this becoming an ongoing event even after the end of the Jubilee year. With enough participation, we are hopeful that each group will only be needed once per year.
If you are an officer or leader of a parish ministry or organization, or would like to contribute in another way, please contact Cathy Hackman at 636-699-8942 or chackman5860@gmail.com for more information.
The Assumption SVdP team is also in need of pantry items to stock the shelves this summer. We are seeing an increase in call volume from neighbors in need. Whatever their reason for calling, food continues to be an area of great need. The Assumption St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is currently low or out of the following items:
- canned pears
- canned peaches
- canned fruit cocktail
- applesauce in individual and family sized containers
- packages of boxed raisins
- canned potatoes
- Tuna Helper
- Chicken Helper
- Crackers (Club, Ritz, Saltines, etc)
- Mayo
- BBQ sauce
- cereal
- granola bars
- Lunch On The Run (see QR code)
- laundry detergent
- dryer sheets
Please check the expiration date before dropping the requested food and non-food items in the wooden cart located in the Church Narthex. We also welcome Aldi and Walmart gift cards to allow our neighbors to purchase fresh milk, eggs, and produce. The gift cards can be placed in the Church collection basket or in the metal donation box near the elevator alcove. For your convenience, you can make a donation through our online Amazon Shopping List. These items are delivered right to our pantry.
Thank you for your generous and continued support!
