Assumption Fall Festival, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

Assumption Parish O’Fallon Entertains Two-Day Festival, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

The annual Assumption Fall Festival is two weeks earlier this year, so mark your calendar and bring the family out for some exciting fall fun Saturday, Sept. 30, from 4-10 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The popular two-day event features spooktaular haunted hayrides and pork steak dinners on Saturday, and old-fashioned traditional hayrides and fried chicken dinners on Sunday, plus a whole lot more! Enjoy two live bands, adult and children’s games, inflatables, barrel rides, refreshing spirits, raffles, a new 20-foot video gaming trailer, and a country store filled with resale items and homemade baked goods!

Here is the lineup for this year’s fall festivities:

Saturday, Sept. 30:
The festival kickoff at 4 p.m. with inflatables, barrel rides, and a variety of games with prizes for the kids, as well as, plenty of beer, wine, pickle shots and games for the adults. Beginning at dusk, festivalgoers of all ages will take 15-minute haunted hayrides through three “scare zones” in the woods nestled along the church grounds. Tickets for haunted hayrides are $5. Under the big tent, Almost Famous is back by popular demand and will perform from 7-10 p.m.; pork steak dinners with gluten-free options are available all day and cost $15.

Sunday, Oct. 1:
On day-two of the festival, adult and children’s activities and games resume at 11 a.m. For those seeking a not-so-spooky ride through the woods, old-fashioned tractor-pulled hayrides are sure to get you into the fall spirit! The scenic hayrides cost $3 and are fun for the entire family. Our famous fried chicken dinners with all the fixings are available all day and cost $15, and The Bright Side takes the stage from 1:30-5:30 p.m.

In addition, a variety of traditional festival food will be available for purchase at our sandwich stand all weekend long. Funnel cake and cotton candy are sure to be a favorite. Seating will be available throughout the festival grounds and under the big tent. For those who want to eat inside, seating also will be open in the parish center.

The Assumption Fall Festival Country Store has something appealing for everyone, including bargain hunters and collectors! Shoppers can peruse a variety of resale items and homemade baked goods for sale inside and outside festival grounds again this year. From furniture and home goods, to vintage Post-Dispatch and Globe Democrat newspapers with historical headlines, Farrah Fawcett posters, uncut sheets of baseball cards, collectable Barbie dolls, holiday decorations, glassware, dishes and other décor―the Country Store has everything andat bargain prices!

Be sure to stop by the raffle booth for the chance to win big! This year, Assumption is raffling off two Trek electric bicycles! The Townie Go! 7D is the e-bike for everyone. It combines comfort and control with the power and fun of an e-bike. The electric bikes are Guava and Citron in color, and bike raffles cost $15 each, four for $50, or 10 for $100. The Assumption Quilters also are raffling off two beautifully handmade quilts: one queen-sized, and the other an elegant baby quilt. Tickets for the quilt raffle are $2 each or three for $5. In addition, a 50/50 raffle will be ongoing throughout the event. 50/50 tickets are $5 each or three for $10, and our new Booze and Bucks Bags, valued at $100 each, will be up for grabs for $50!

A special thanks to Schnucks Markets, Twin Oaks Senior Living, Ambassador Mid-West Floor, and i3 Broadband Fiber Unleashed for their generous festival event sponsorships. Look for the company logos of each featured on the 2023 festival commemorative cups used at the beer garden during the event. In addition to these generous festival event sponsors, an anonymous sponsor made a large donation to assist with spreading the good news about the parish’s upcoming men and women’s Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Retreats. The women’s retreat is Oct. 21-22 and the men’s retreat is March 2-3.

“We are grateful for the support from all our generous community partners, as well as those who travel near and far to enjoy this longtime tradition at Assumption Parish,” says Father Nick Kastenholz, Pastor.
